Hand picked grapes ready for pressing. New Zealand wines have proved a hit with US consumers.

New Zealand has retained its position as the third most valuable wine import in the US, after Italy and France, having achieved a 6% increase in the value of its imports into the country in 2017, New Zealand Winegrowers has confirmed.

Ten Minutes by Tractor winery in Victoria suffered a fire on Sunday afternoon which destroyed its wine cellar and several vintage tractors, with the owner estimating over AU$500,000 worth of wine has been lost.

The Chinese wine market is evolving rapidly and Wajiu is a wine import company that’s poised to take advantage of the growth.

Since it was founded in Beijing in 2014, Wajiu has expanded across China to major cities including Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Chengdu, and is now importing bottles from over 500 wineries in 20 different countries.

A lawyer by training, McLaren was an ambassador and champion for California's Central Coast wineries.

Archie McLaren, a charismatic, tireless wine lover known for founding the Central Coast Wine Classic and hosting radio and TV segments on wine, died Feb. 20, from complications due to bone cancer. He was 75.

The B.C. government notified Alberta that it is requesting consultations under the Canadian free trade agreement’s dispute settlement process. The challenge comes after Alberta announced a boycott of B.C. wines in retaliation for regulations that could block a west coast oil pipeline.
