Alberta bans wine imports from British Columbia amid a brewing dispute over a pipeline expansion.

Selling more wines in China, and across Asia more generally, has helped to buoy Treasury Wine Estates in the first half of its financial year as it has cut down on less profitable parts of the markets in the UK and US - with global group profits also up strongly for the six months.

The annual Direct to Consumer (DtC) data is in for 2017 and it looks good for that segment of wine retailing--with a caveat, of course.

According to the respected wine industry data collection firm, Gomberg, Fredrikson Associates, across all 50 US states overall domestic off-premise wine sales (retail sales, no restaurants) was $26.7 billion in 2017.

The sheer volume alone is almost double of that of 2013, indicating how the market has quickly rebounded after the market bubble bursted in 2012.
